ZZ Top’s aptly titled First Album introduced the unmistakable Texas blues-rock sound of Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard. The record established the trio’s combination of gritty electric blues, hard-driving rock and Southern swagger that would become their trademark.

Produced by Bill Ham, the album puts Billy Gibbons’ guitar playing firmly at the centre, backed by Dusty Hill’s bass and Frank Beard’s powerful drumming. Its raw production and blues foundations capture ZZ Top at the beginning of a career that would develop into one of rock music’s most enduring success stories.
