Traffic - Shoot Out At The Fantasy Factory LP

Shoot Out At The Fantasy Factory is the sixth studio album from Traffic, combining progressive rock, jazz, blues and psychedelic influences with the accomplished musicianship that defined the band's early-1970s recordings. Recorded at Strawberry Hill Studios in Jamaica, the album features Steve Winwood alongside Chris Wood, Jim Capaldi, Rebop Kwaku Baah, David Hood and Roger Hawkins.

The five-track album opens with the title track “Shoot Out At The Fantasy Factory” before moving into the extended “Roll Right Stones”. Side two features “Evening Blue”, the Chris Wood composition “Tragic Magic” and the expansive “(Sometimes I Feel So) Uninspired”.

Long instrumental passages, Steve Winwood’s distinctive vocals and keyboards, Chris Wood’s saxophone and flute, and an extensive rhythm section give the album a loose, exploratory character. Its combination of rock songwriting and extended arrangements makes it a distinctive entry in Traffic’s catalogue.
