Sex Pistols - The Great Rock 'n Roll Swindle CD

Sex Pistols’ The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle is the soundtrack to Julien Temple’s notorious film of the same name, mixing Sex Pistols recordings with demos, rehearsals, live material, cover versions and recordings made after Johnny Rotten’s departure. Originally appearing in 1979, it remains one of the strangest and most fascinating releases connected with the band.

The collection features performances from Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Sid Vicious, alongside contributions from Malcolm McLaren, Ronnie Biggs and Edward Tudor-Pole. Earlier rehearsal material featuring Johnny Rotten is also included, giving the album a deliberately chaotic journey through different periods of the Sex Pistols story.

Among its best-known tracks are Sid Vicious’ versions of My Way, Something Else and C’mon Everybody, alongside Anarchy In The UK, Silly Thing, No One Is Innocent, Lonely Boy, Friggin’ In The Riggin’ and the title track. The CD also includes covers of Johnny B. Goode, Road Runner, Substitute and (I’m Not Your) Stepping Stone.
