Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit - Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit 2 LP

Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit is the self-titled second studio album from American singer-songwriter Jason Isbell and his backing band, originally released in 2009. Blending Southern rock, alternative country, Americana and heartland rock, the album showcases Isbell's thoughtful songwriting, expressive vocals and distinctive storytelling, supported by the band's warm, guitar-driven arrangements.

Following his departure from Drive-By Truckers, Isbell continued to develop his musical identity with a collection of songs exploring relationships, personal struggles and everyday life in the American South. Tracks such as 'Seven-Mile Island', 'Good', 'Cigarettes And Wine' and 'The Blue' highlight his ability to combine vivid lyrical detail with melodic hooks and powerful rock instrumentation.

The album balances introspective acoustic moments with energetic electric guitars and a roots-oriented sound, establishing the foundations of the musical partnership that would continue to evolve across subsequent releases. An engaging introduction to Jason Isbell's solo work, this self-titled LP is an essential addition for listeners who appreciate thoughtful Americana, Southern rock and compelling singer-songwriter albums.
