In 1990, Andrew Ridgeley finally released his debut album, Son of Albert. After Wham! broke up in 1986, his good friend George Michael went on to become an internationally popular star. Ridgeley took a different path, moving to Monaco to start a career as an auto racer. After four years, he finally returned with new music that sounded more refreshed than ever. The songs on the album were clearly influenced by hard rock, and the result was different from the sound of Wham!
The album enjoyed several successes. The single "Red Dress" was a big hit in the Australian charts, and "Shake" charted in the UK. "Red Dress" was especially an exciting release for his fans because it featured backing vocals by George Michael.
The album is now back on vinyl for the first time since its release and includes two sides of extended and alternative tracks that have never been released on wax before.
Son Of Albert is a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on silver coloured vinyl and includes an insert.
