Barrington Levy - Englishman (GREL9) LP
The release of Barrington Levy’s ‘Englishman’ at the close of the 70s announced a new golden era of Jamaican music that would carry Jamaican music into the next decade. Rub-A-Dub now carried the swing and the album, released on the back of a series of hit singles established the young Barrington as the star of the 80s in full effect. The album shot straight to the top of the Reggae charts and saw Barrington return to the UK in the new year to be crowned at the 1980s Reggae award shows. Produced by Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes at Channel One & King Tubby’s with the Roots Radics, the album is now hailed as a foundation Greensleeves Reggae album classic.
