Music On Vinyl Re Issue Laura Nyro - Walk The Dog And Light The Light On Silver Vinyl 4th April

Walk the Dog & Light the Light was Laura Nyro's final album of original material released during her lifetime. It features a mix of original songs and covers, blending pop, soul, and jazz influences. The track "Broken Rainbow" had previously appeared in the Academy Award-winning documentary about the Navajo people's relocation.

 

The album features contributions from Bernard Purdie (drums), Freddie Washington (bass), and guitarists Elliott Randall, Michael Landau, and Ira Siegel. Co-produced by Laura Nyro and Gary Katz (of Steely Dan fame), it has a smooth, soulful sound, with Nyro’s rich, smokier vocals addressing themes of feminism, animal rights, and Native American rights.
